JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:            Site Team Member

We are looking to expand our Site Team and are looking for skilled and experienced individuals to join our successful, expanding school. You will be an integral member of a small team within an educational environment.

Reports to:         Site Manager

Working time: 37 hours per week, 5 days per week, 52 weeks per year. 08.30 start – to be agreed.

Some flexibility will be required within working times, to meet demands of the site – including on-call responsibilities to deal with queries out of hours.

You may be asked to work at other sites in the Trust from time to time, in accordance with the Trust Mobility Policy

Purpose of Role:

To be a member of the Site Team to ensure our premises meet the needs of our students, staff and visitors, supporting security, maintenance, porterage and cleaning and any other reasonable site task as directed by the School Business Manager or Senior Management, and covering the absence of other members of the Site Team, to ensure the safe environment for the students, staff and visitors

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the school and site to a high standard of appearance and operation which supports having pride and ownership within school
  • Proactively carrying out caretaking and cleaning duties as part of the site team
    • carrying out all janitorial duties (moving of furniture and equipment; setting out for assemblies, examinations and other special events; delivering materials and goods (in conjunction with School Business Manager)
    • preparing the premises for any school activities and clearing up after these activities
    • assisting with any indoor cleaning as requested such as cleaning light diffusers, and fan convectors
    • carrying out litter/refuse clearance of the site to ensure that the buildings and site are kept litter free daily
  • Supporting site security
    • acting as keyholder, and carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds including the routine and non-routine opening and closing of premises and grounds
    • assisting to provide access to the premises and classrooms in the event of snow or minor flooding or similar emergency situations
    • attempting to prevent unauthorised access onto the school premises or grounds.
    • in conjunction with the School Business Manager, liaise and supervise all on site contractors to ensure that there is minimum disruption and where possible out of school hours working
  • Helping with site maintenance and repair
    • carrying out / assisting in carrying out routine maintenance and repairs, including decorating
  • Assisting in ensuring the school complies with Health and Safety requirements
    • adhering the school’s Health & Safety policy
    • noting and reporting on matters affecting H&S requirements
    • carrying out regular maintenance, inspections and statutory testing
  • Complying with the policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and child protection, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Performing any other reasonable site task as directed by the Site Manager or Senior Management, and covering the absence of other members of the Site Team, to ensure the safe environment for the students, staff and visitors Lone working may be necessary. Variety of internal and external work throughout the year.

Person Specification

  • Physical effort is necessary with working at heights, use of equipment (bending, moving, handling, lifting) subject to appropriate working from heights and manual handling requirements.
  • Hold GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent
