Under the overall leadership of the Head of Science, you will be required to prepare resources for lessons to an A level standard; to co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities, and to provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the science curriculum, including liaising with the teaching staff, and other support staff outside the department.  The Department has 10 well-resourced Laboratories, each with an interactive white board. KS3 is taught to years 7, 8 and 9. KS4 to years 9, 10 & 11

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The preparation of materials and equipment for science lessons.
  • Maintaining science laboratories and preparation rooms and their equipment, and services in good order.
  • General duties in support of the teachers in the Science Department.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Department Health and Safety regulations, CLEAPSS, CLP regulations, and Standard operating procedures for radioactive materials.
  • Providing administrative support for the Head of Faculty for the effective running of the department as directed by the Head of Science.
  • The precise duties would be determined by the Headteacher consistent with the main areas of responsibility set out above. Some examples of the kind of duties which may be required are set out below.
